You probably know this, but pretendo is a replacement for (right now) some of the servers, splatoon 1 included. Works on emulators too.

What I hate was that I didn't know it was shutting down on the 8th, I couldn't get to play mh4u multiplayer for the last time

Those final hours were emotional, man, I didn’t start playing Splatoon until 2020, but I started with the second game and then played the first one, and even though I wasn’t there for the beginning of Splatoon 1, at least I got to experience it for a few years till the end, made some cool friends along the way too. During those last hours in Turf War, we would start playing normally and then we’d start Squid Partying and then jump off the edge of the map a few seconds before the time ren out. Good times, I’m gonna miss it.

When i was a kid i really wanted to play the game online. But since i got 14 years and dont got any money to buy splatoon 1, i've lost some of my hope in playing the game. Edit: I got Splatoon 3!! Still Pretty Sad I counld't play the First game, but I am happy that I could actually play one of them
