That voice man... Thunderous. Gerard Butler was made for this role.
"This is Sparta", he politely informed the man, not wanting to hurt his feelings.
XERXES: "Why did you kill my messenger?" LEONIDAS: "My wife said I could."
"Killing a messenger sends a message " -Leonidas
"This is Sparta." Leonidas whispered calmly
Truly one of the most well-delivered lines in a movie
Gerard butler felt fearsome even when talking calmly, controlling the roller coaster of tension in the scene, outstanding preformence
Always stand on the edge of an infinite deep pit when you threaten someone in his own home.
This scene really inspired me. I've been kicking people down wells ever since this movie came out.... before I just pushed them with my hands.
Messenger: "threatens a king and his people in his own home and stands on the edge of a deep pit" "Then proceeds to call him a madman"
In many occasions I've seen people refer to a frontal kick to the chest with the bottom of your foot as a "Sparta Kick". It's just that iconic.
Loved that he had a moment when he questioned his own judgment and looked to his wife for approval, and she stood by him. Powerful moment.
Arguably this movie's most iconic moment, and it exists because Gerard Butler wanted just one take to try the line a bit differently.
The nod from his queen was the greatest act of support I've ever seen.
1:46 This is Madness 2:08 THIS IS SPARTA!
“This is Sparta”, He calmly informed the man.
Messenger : Choose your next words carefully, Leonidas Leonidas : *pulls out sword* Messenger : That's not very careful
Legend says that the dude is still falling down that pit to this day
This line was all over the internet back in the day.
