16:48 "stop spinning" lol they knew what they were doing
I have been SAVED from the fill bucket white speckle thing for YEARS because the fill tool on my program literally just does not work 💜
My solution to all of my Digital art problems: traditional draw first, digital color second
That quick tour through your very early digital art was a real treat 😁❤
For the hard-edged object one, I like to make my sketch perfect and straight and then hand draw in the inking phase! I don’t make the sketch too detailed, just drawing any absolutely necessary contours like the outer edges or visible structural lines. Then, I freehand the inking phase using the perfect sketch as a guide and add all the hatching I like so it still looks accurate, but still slightly shaky and clearly hand-made
I am SO GUILTY of these, especially the first one. Tysm for helping us with these tips! I'll definitely use these. I hope you're doing okay rn! <3
I’m so sorry for your loss and the LA fires. I hope you’re recovering well and I love your book! It’s so well drawn and beautiful. Much love!
Sorry for your loss, take your time to get back into your routine. Love ur vids :]
15:51 Procreate has a nice feature that lets you adjust how much the fill bucket can spread Just drag the color you’re using onto where you want to fill, and hold it there before you let go It will pull up a slider that lets you adjust how much it spreads
I think learning how to freehand straight lines can work and be more helpful in the long term. In my dvco class last year the first things we were taught was how to draw straight lines without any tools, which we then built off of to draw cubes and circles.
Hardcover? Damn, I knew she was successful but I didn't realize she was Hardcover successful! Congratulations! 🎉
I’m so sorry for your loss in the family 😢❤ Take your time with your content though, Haley! We love you and understand that quality takes time! No need to feel rushed. Try and have a great time everyone and peace and love
honestly i’ve never thought of using gradient at all when coloring pieces, only slapping one on when im done, so the entire gradient section was very eye opening 😭
12:30 what you are explaining makes complete sense and i am sure you know what you're talking about, however, what i find is that in your drawing my eyes were drawn to the background rather than the big character and the vet
For the buckettool problem, as someone who uses IbiPaint, it's really easy to set an "expansion" amount where Ibis will just make the bucket-ed area a little larger so it fills the lines. Really helpful! I personally just use the lasso fill tool, though. It helps me train hand stability
0:18 When I first got my iPad, I was drawing digitally ALL THE TIME, and absolutely LOVED the zoom feature. One day was drawing traditionally and tried to pinch and zoom… I had to pause and look fourth wall and question my existence for a moment
Using a book to draw straight lines is pretty genius! I really don't like having to use the line program because to me it makes the drawing look artificial, but the book could be a good compromise between hand drawn and mechanic.
3:32 I think the first one deserves a star next to her hand too
I actually really love the wobbly sword, i think it's a really cool bit of stylization
