They thought they could fool us. Again, but Kenyans have changed and this time, the people read every move for what it truly was.
On June 25, 2025, Kenyans across the country rose in protest not for a party, not for a tribe, but for justice, dignity, and a future worth fighting for. The state responded with brutality. At least 16 civilians were killed, and over 400 injured, most of them young, unarmed, and peaceful.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, newly appointed to the powerful docket, didn’t call for restraint. Instead, he ordered police to “shoot anyone near a station,” declaring that firearms were “not decorations.” It was a public endorsement of extrajudicial killings and the blood flowed.
To justify this violence, the government unleashed paid goons to destroy property and incite chaos ,a calculated move to paint the protests as violent and illegitimate. They knew exactly what they were doing. The goal was to shift the narrative, frame the people as the problem, and crush a rising movement.
But it failed. Spectacularly.
Kenyans read between the lines. They saw the government’s desperation, they saw the tribal card being waved and threw it in the trash. They saw through the propaganda. Murkomen’s script :tribal scapegoating, violent repression, and staged sabotage is a relic. The people are done playing by those rules.
This isn’t a moment. It’s a movement.
And it’s one the government can no longer control.
