As Kratos and Atreus slay the Einherjar standing between them and Odin, they discover that the All-Father has put innocent Midgardians on their path as well, as civilian cannon fodder. Atreus feels their pain, and attempts to shut it out. Kratos then teaches his boy another valuable lesson. To disregard what he stated before, and he tells his son to open his heart to their suffering, and to never sacrifice that feeling.
